Why Windsor Corporations Choose Gondaliya CPA for Corporate Tax Filing

Windsor is southwestern Ontario's largest city and the most important Canada-US trade corridor in the country with over 229,000 residents and more than 10,000 registered businesses. Situated directly across the Detroit River from Detroit, Michigan, Windsor's economy is fundamentally shaped by cross-border trade, with the Ambassador Bridge and the new Gordie Howe International Bridge moving over $100 billion in bilateral goods annually. The Stellantis Windsor Assembly Plant and the $5 billion NextStar Energy EV battery gigafactory anchor a supply chain of hundreds of auto parts manufacturers, battery component suppliers and logistics companies.

These businesses need correct CCA classification, cross-border HST recovery on US imports, CUSMA rules-of-origin documentation and the Clean Technology Investment Tax Credit for EV manufacturing equipment. Windsor corporations importing from the US face HST at the border (collected by CBSA, recoverable as ITCs), customs duties under CUSMA and transfer pricing rules for related-party cross-border transactions. We file every T2 with the documentation that prevents CRA London TSO reviews from escalating. Flat-fee from $400. Windsor CPA Services.

Corporate Tax Filing in Windsor

T2 corporate tax returns for Windsor corporations. CCA optimized for automotive and manufacturing. AFFORDABLE flat-fee pricing.

1

T2 Corporate Tax Return

Complete T2 preparation with every schedule your Windsor corporation needs, including cross-border and trade-specific schedules.

  • Prepare the T2 corporate income tax return with all required schedules including Schedule 1 (net income reconciliation), Schedule 4 (loss carryback), Schedule 8 (CCA) and Schedule 50 (shareholder information).
  • Map financial statement data onto Schedule 100 (balance sheet) and Schedule 125 (income statement) through matched GIFI coding.
  • Confirm CCPC status and apply the Small Business Deduction (12.2% combined rate on first $500,000 of active business income).
  • File electronically with CRA and provide confirmation of filing within 24 hours.
  • Include the director's personal T1 return at no additional charge for all T2 clients.
2

Automotive and Clean Tech CCA

Windsor corporations importing from the US need correct HST recovery and CUSMA documentation.

  • Recover HST paid to CBSA on imported US goods as ITCs on the GST/HST return. Separate import HST from customs duties in your bookkeeping to prevent CRA reversals on audit.
  • Prepare and maintain CUSMA Certificates of Origin to qualify for preferential (often zero) duty rates on US imports crossing the Ambassador Bridge and Gordie Howe Bridge.
  • Classify customs duties correctly as inventory cost (not recoverable) and import HST as recoverable ITC. This is the most common error for Windsor importers.
  • Document zero-rated export sales to US customers with proper proof of export to prevent CRA from assessing HST on cross-border sales.
  • File duty refund applications with CBSA where non-CUSMA rates were incorrectly applied to qualifying US-origin goods.
3

Corporate Tax Planning

The Stellantis and NextStar EV supply chain creates significant Clean Technology ITC opportunities for Windsor manufacturers.

  • Identify EV manufacturing machinery, battery assembly equipment, thermal management systems and cell testing rigs eligible for the 30% refundable Clean Technology ITC.
  • Document that qualifying equipment is used primarily for clean technology manufacturing activities as required by the Clean Tech ITC rules.
  • Coordinate the Clean Tech ITC with CCA Class 53 (50% M&P) claims to maximise the combined first-year deduction on qualifying EV supply chain equipment.
  • Prepare the Clean Tech ITC claim with T2 filing including all supporting documentation for CRA review.
  • File amended T2 returns to recover Clean Tech ITC on equipment acquired in prior years where the credit was not originally claimed.
4

SR&ED Tax Credits

Essex County is the greenhouse capital of Canada. T2 filing for greenhouse operations requires specialised CCA and income reporting.

  • Classify greenhouse structures under CCA Class 1 (4%) or Class 6 (10%) and production equipment including supplemental lighting, climate control and automated irrigation under Class 43 (30%).
  • Report AgriStability and AgriInvest program payments correctly as active business income on the T2 return. Coordinate with the program year-end which may differ from the corporate fiscal year-end.
  • Claim CCA on cannabis cultivation licensing costs, security systems and compliance infrastructure where the greenhouse has transitioned to or added cannabis production.
  • Prepare the T2 with proper income allocation between greenhouse product lines (tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, cannabis) for operations with mixed revenue streams.
  • File amended returns where greenhouse equipment has been misclassified under Class 8 (20%) instead of the correct Class 43 (30%).
5

CRA Audit Representation

When CRA London TSO contacts your Windsor corporation, we handle everything.

  • Respond directly to CRA London TSO on your behalf using authorized representative access for all cross-border HST, CUSMA and CCA inquiries.
  • Prepare organized documentation packages for cross-border HST reviews, CUSMA rules-of-origin requests and Clean Tech ITC audits.
  • Represent your corporation through CRA reviews of import HST ITC claims, employee vs. contractor status and cross-border payroll compliance.
  • File Notices of Objection when CRA assessments are incorrect, particularly on reversed import HST ITCs and denied CUSMA duty classifications.
  • CRA audit representation is included FREE for all T2 corporate tax filing clients. No additional fee. We also coordinate with CBSA on duty-related matters.
6

T2 Amendments and Prior Year Catch-Up

Windsor businesses with employees working on both sides of the border need coordinated Canada-US payroll.

  • Coordinate Canadian CPP/EI and US FICA contributions under the Canada-US Social Security Agreement to prevent double contributions.
  • Obtain Certificates of Coverage from CRA or SSA to confirm which country's social security system applies to each cross-border employee.
  • Allocate income tax withholding between Canada and the US under the Canada-US Tax Treaty based on where work is physically performed.
  • Prepare T4 slips reflecting the correct Canadian employment income and cross-border Treaty-exempt amounts for Windsor employees commuting to Detroit.
  • Reconcile dual payroll to prevent employee complaints, CRA/IRS discrepancies and double contribution assessments.

Case Studies: Corporate Tax Filing in Windsor

Auto Parts Manufacturer, Stellantis Supply Chain (CCA + Clean Tech ITC)

A Windsor auto parts manufacturer supplying the Stellantis assembly plant and entering the NextStar EV battery supply chain had classified $740,000 in CNC machining centres, robotic welding cells and stamping presses under CCA Class 8 (20%) for three years. Our review reclassified $540,000 to Class 53 (50% M&P) and identified $200,000 in EV battery testing equipment eligible for the Clean Technology ITC at 30%. We filed T2 amendments for two prior years. Windsor CPA Services →

$38,200 CRA refund on amended returns. Clean Tech ITC applied on EV equipment.

Import/Export Corp, Ambassador Bridge Corridor (CUSMA Duty + HST Recovery)

A Windsor customs brokerage and distribution company importing US auto parts had been paying non-CUSMA duty rates on $2.1 million in annual imports because rules-of-origin Certificates of Origin were not maintained. Simultaneously, $86,000 in HST paid at the border had not been claimed as ITCs because the bookkeeper recorded CBSA payments as customs duties instead of recoverable HST. We prepared CUSMA certificates, filed duty refund applications and corrected the HST returns.

$52,000 duty savings recovered + $86,000 HST ITCs claimed on amended returns.

Leamington Greenhouse Corp (AgriStability + Equipment CCA)

A Leamington greenhouse tomato operation had been excluding AgriStability program payments from T2 active business income and had missed $460,000 in CCA on supplemental lighting systems, climate control equipment and automated irrigation purchased over four years. The equipment had been classified under Class 8 (20%) instead of Class 43 (30%). We corrected the AgriStability income reporting, reclassified the equipment and filed amended returns for three prior years. Corporate Tax Filing →

$16,800 net refund after AgriStability adjustment. CCA reclassified and recovered.

Cross-Border Services Firm, Downtown Windsor (Dual Payroll Resolution)

A Windsor professional services firm with 12 employees commuting daily to Detroit had been remitting both CPP and US FICA on cross-border employees for two years, resulting in $34,000 in double social security contributions. No Certificates of Coverage had been obtained. We filed Certificate of Coverage applications with CRA, obtained refunds of the duplicate CPP contributions and corrected the T4 reporting for both years.

$34,000 in double CPP/FICA contributions recovered. Certificates of Coverage obtained.

Frequently Asked Questions: Corporate Tax Filing in Windsor

How much does corporate tax filing cost for an Windsor small business?
Gondaliya CPA charges a flat fee starting from $400 including HST for T2 corporate tax return preparation and CRA filing. The director's personal T1 return and CRA audit support are both included at no extra charge. There is no hourly billing. You receive an exact flat fee before we begin. Under our 60-Day Fees-Matching Policy, we match any lower written quote from a licensed Ontario CPA firm for the same scope of work. Know Your Exact Fee →
When is the T2 corporate tax return due for a December 31 year-end?
For a corporation with a December 31, 2025 fiscal year-end, the T2 return must be filed by June 30, 2026. The balance of tax owing is due March 31, 2026 for Canadian-Controlled Private Corporations (CCPCs). Filing late when a balance is owing attracts a penalty of 5% of the balance plus 1% per month plus CRA interest on any unpaid balance. Please contact us immediately if your Windsor corporation has outstanding unfiled T2 returns.
Does Gondaliya CPA have a physical office in Windsor?
Yes. Our Windsor office is at 4387 Guppy Ct, Windsor, ON N9G 2N8. We serve clients across downtown Windsor, Tecumseh, LaSalle, Lakeshore, Amherstburg, Kingsville, Leamington and the Essex County greenhouse corridor. All corporate tax services are also available 100% virtually through our TaxDome portal. Windsor CPA Services →
What is the Clean Technology Investment Tax Credit for Windsor manufacturers?
The Clean Technology ITC provides a refundable tax credit of up to 30% on qualifying clean technology equipment acquired after March 28, 2023. For Windsor businesses in the GM EV supply chain, qualifying equipment includes EV manufacturing machinery, battery assembly equipment, zero-emission vehicle charging infrastructure and energy storage systems. This is one of the most valuable and most under-claimed credits available to Windsor-area manufacturers.
How does HST work on goods imported from the US through Windsor?
CBSA collects HST on imported goods at the border. This HST is fully recoverable as an ITC on your GST/HST return. Customs duties paid under CUSMA are not recoverable and must be added to inventory cost. Keeping import HST and customs duties in separate bookkeeping accounts is critical. Mixing them is the most common bookkeeping error for Windsor importers and leads to CRA reversals on audit. Import/Export Accounting →
What is the Small Business Deduction and does my Windsor corporation qualify?
The Small Business Deduction reduces the federal corporate tax rate from 15% to 9% on the first $500,000 of active business income for Canadian-Controlled Private Corporations (CCPCs). Combined with Ontario's 3.2% small business rate, qualifying Windsor CCPCs pay a combined rate of just 12.2%, saving up to $30,000 per year compared to the 26.5% general rate. Most owner-operated Windsor corporations qualify.
Do Windsor businesses with US employees face double payroll contributions?
The Canada-US Social Security Agreement prevents double CPP/FICA contributions, but a Certificate of Coverage must be obtained from CRA or SSA to confirm which country's social security system applies to each cross-border employee. Income tax withholding follows separate rules under the Canada-US Tax Treaty based on where work is physically performed. We coordinate dual payroll for Windsor cross-border employers to prevent double contributions and CRA/IRS reconciliation problems.
What documents do I need to provide for T2 filing?
If you are an existing bookkeeping client, you do not need to provide anything additional. We already maintain your books. For non-clients, we require: year-end trial balance or financial statements, bank statements for all accounts, loan and credit card statements, inventory listing (if applicable), capital asset additions and dispositions, shareholder loan transactions and T4/T5 summaries if payroll or dividends were issued.
How does the 60-Day Fees-Matching Policy work?
If you receive a lower written quote from any licensed Ontario CPA firm for the same scope of work within 60 days of engaging our services, we match that quote. The quote must be from a licensed CPA Ontario firm (not a bookkeeper or tax preparer), must be in writing and must cover the same services. We have 100% trust in our pricing because we are already the most AFFORDABLE licensed CPA firm in Windsor.
How do I schedule a consultation?
You can book a free consultation online at any time using the scheduling link on this page or by calling us directly at 647-212-9559. During the consultation, we discuss your corporation's specific situation, confirm the scope, identify deduction opportunities (CCA, SR&ED, Clean Tech ITC) and provide a fixed-fee quote with a delivery timeline before any work begins. No obligation and no charge. Book Free Consultation →
